Building a bit of
un-terrible internet.

A Brooklyn-based software shop specializing in economically sustainable, socially constructive digital products.

If it's true that software is getting cheaper to build, maintain, and operate than ever before — we should be able to have and enjoy software that was never possible previously.

Oceans of NYC

Live

A community scavenger hunt to find all ~2,500 of the Fisker Ocean EVs operating in the city as leased ride-share vehicles. It's completely unnecessary and fairly absurd — but also surprisingly fun and addictive. Remember when Pokémon Go got everyone into the real world for a minute?

Covered in Jalopnik and celebrated as “exactly the kind of absurd project I can get behind” and “what the internet is for.”

It's Been a Minute

Private Alpha

The app on your phone that actually steers you back to spending time with the real people you care about. A “rolodex” for family, friends, and acquaintances that logs the calls, texts, hangs, and visits that bring you together.

Like a fitness app for your social life: positive reinforcement makes good habits salient, and you’ll always know who to reach out to next.

Slow Ink

In Development

A social platform designed for quality over engagement. Defined by the ways it constrains user behavior rather than maximizing endless scroll. We don’t benefit from having 1,000 “followers” — we badly need groups of 6–12 to whom we feel materially connected.

About

Wallabout Studios was founded by Sam Swift in late 2024 as a home for projects that just needed to be built. The goal is to create a space that makes it easier and more likely to bring worthwhile ideas to market.

Why “Wallabout”?

Wallabout is the mostly out-of-use name for a Brooklyn neighborhood where these ideas were born.

Why “Studios”?

Studios evoke creative collaboration through collocation. The dream is for Wallabout to grow into a community of builders who have different ideas but similar perspectives — optimistic about individuals with strongly held visions.
